Mountain Harvest Festival Combines Autumn Family Fun with Picturesque Scenery at Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain Ski Area

All the fun of Halloween without the scary stuff

PALMERTON, Pa. (Friday, September 11, 2012) – Parents looking for a new Autumn or Halloween attraction that combines picturesque scenery and action-packed events that entertain the entire family should check out the Mountain Harvest Festival at Blue Mountain Ski Area on Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31.
 
“When I think of Halloween, I don’t think of ghosts and goblins, I think of pumpkin patches and hayrides as a kid with my family,” said Heidi Lutz, marketing director at Blue Mountain Ski Area. “That’s what the Harvest Festival offers – perfect family Halloween memories on a beautiful mountain set against the colors of nature in fall. There is no better way for families to celebrate the spirit of Halloween.”
 
Mountain Harvest Festival’s biggest draw is the “Amazing Maize Corn Maze,” which commemorates the original Lehigh Canal, a 46-mile stretch of towpaths that ran from Jim Thorpe to Easton, Pa. Visitors entering the 2-mile long maze will embark on a twisty adventure, collecting eight Maze Map pieces from Lockboxes in each of the maze’s eight dead ends. When pasted correctly onto the “Amazing Maize Maze Gameboard,” these pieces will form a map of the Corn Canal to help lead guests from the first dock to the “Victory Aqueduct.”

In addition to the Amazing Maize Corn Maze, the Mountain Harvest Festival is jam-packed with fun autumn attractions, including a hayride to the pumpkin patch where families can pick pumpkins and paint them with their kids. The festival also features “Moon Bounce” inflatable jump amusements and plenty of great food and beverages.
