SAA & Air Canada Launch New Code Share Agreement

South African Airways and Air Canada are pleased to announce a code share agreement that will make it easier for your clients to travel between Canada and South Africa. Customers connecting between the carriers in New York (JFK) or London will be able to book a single itinerary and make seamless connections to South Africa. SAA will code share on Air Canada-operated flights between Toronto and New York (JFK), including flights operated by Air Canada Express, and between Vancouver and Toronto to London. Air Canada will in turn code share on SAA-operated services between New York and Johannesburg, London and Johannesburg, and Johannesburg and Cape Town.

With both airlines being Star Alliance members, customers will continue to enjoy the benefit of earning and redeeming frequent flyer miles through the SAA Voyager program or Air Canada's Aeroplan when flying on the code share services and throughout their respective global networks.

Global Traveler Magazine Names SAA as "Airline of the Year"

South African Airways has been honored with the award "Airline of the Year 2012" from the prestigious business travel and lifestyle magazine, Global Traveler, in North America. Global Traveler Advisory Board members chose SAA from 25 airlines based on SAA's product and quality of service.

In announcing the award, Francis X Gallagher, publisher and CEO, Global Traveler, said "South African Airways is an industry leader offering a first-rate experience and is a perfect representative of South Africa's personality, promise and culture." In addition to this award, SAA also won "Best Airline in Africa" for the 9th consecutive year and "Best White Wine International Business Class." "We're extremely proud of these esteemed awards and our efforts will continue as we strive to offer the fastest, most convenient and comfortable service to Africa for both business and leisure customers," said Todd Neuman, Executive Vice President, North America, SAA.

The signature dishes of Benny Masekwameng, Executive Chef of the Tsogo Sun group and celebrated MasterChef South Africa judge will be introduced in all of SAA's international premium class and regional flights. His expert advice on our menus in Premium Class and on SAA's regional flights will certainly delight our customers' discerning palates.
