There’s More to the Banff Ski Experience than Just Extreme Powder

02-08-2008

What’s New for 2007/2008

Banff National Park, Alberta (February 6, 2008) – Another 20 cm of the light fluffy stuff has fallen in the past seven days adding to over 13 feet of powder already this season. The snow is always guaranteed on the three ski resorts in Banff National Park, but this year there are several new activities to try. SlopeTracker, the Mountain Buddy Program, Sitz ‘n’ Suds Après Ski Party and Dinner are only a few of the many events offered throughout the season for travellers to Banff and Lake Louise.

Exclusive to Sunshine Village, SlopeTracker is the latest offering for those looking to take their experience to the next level.  Skiers and snowboarders are fitted with an arm band equipped with upgraded GPS technology which monitors their statistics over the course of the day. SlopeTracker is capable of calculating statistics such as top speed, number of runs, calories burned and hours spent riding. At the end of the day, users simply return their armband and receive a poster quality, frame-ready printout of their day.

Developed by Banff Springs Ski & Mountain Sports, the Mountain Buddy Program allows you to find a skiing buddy, join a hockey game or snowshoe with a new friend. Free of charge and without any booking requirements, a schedule is provided on the different activities available and you simply show up and join in the fun for a day in the majestic setting of Banff National Park.

Whether you are on your own or part of a group, Lake Louise Mountain Resorts’ new “Sitz ‘n’ Suds” Après Ski Party & Dinner is the coolest place to spend your Friday night.  Join the band “Suds”, Bow Valley’s favourite trio, for a hearty buffet dinner and dance after a fabulous day on the mountain.

You can find complete information on these three programs and many more at www.banfflakelouise.com. Visit our website for additional information on hotels, activities, restaurants, events, and more.
