Skytrax Star Ranking provides an accurate and independent guide for travelers around the world, and 4-Star is a most respected category for an airline. South African Airways has been ranked at 4-Star Airline status for 11 years in a row. SAA Wins On-Time Performance Service Award And Achieves Major Baggage Handling Improvements

FlightStats, the global leader in flight and airport information services, recently announced On Time Performance Service Awards (OTPS Awards) for airlines across the globe. SAA, with its 91% on-time performance average, won in the category 'Middle East and Africa Major Airlines'.

This category included airlines based in the Middle East and Africa that operate at least 30,000 scheduled flights annually within the Middle East and Africa. The other 4 Finalists included Etihad Airways, Gulf Air Company, Qatar Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines. As on time performance is a critical factor considered by customers when selecting which airline to fly, winning this award highlights our employees' commitment to ensuring a seamless travel experience to our valued customers.

SAA's unrivalled on-time performance is complemented by substantial improvements that have been achieved in baggage handling, resulting in historically low levels for baggage irregularities or pilferage.

SAA embarked on a system-wide, structured approach to improve baggage handling during the past year, as part of the airline's overall passenger service enhancement project. Several initiatives were launched to systematically re-engineer the way in which baggage is handled.
