Four-Night Rome Package—from $378—Includes Moonlight Colosseum Tour

05-09-2013

Libertyville, IL, May 9, 2013—Rome really comes alive in spring and summer when visitors can enjoy the city 24 hours a day.  TourCrafters makes it possible with their 4-night land-only Rome Midnight Dream  package that starts as low as $378 in July and August and includes a private arrival transfer, four nights’ accommodation in the conveniently located 3-star Hotel Brasile, four buffet breakfasts, 48 hours of a Hop On Hop Off tour, a moonlight tour of the Colosseum, a visit to the Emperor Constantine Exhibition, a free gelato and taxes.  (Minimal city taxes, which are not included, must be paid directly to the hotel in euros.)

At this time of year, restaurants with tables in picturesque squares and streets are open until 1:00 AM and bars with outdoor terraces serve gelato, granita and drinks until almost dawn.  You can even stroll along the banks of Isola Tiberina—a tiny island in the Tiber River reached by a 1st  century B.C. footbridge—and watch for the sunrise.

This year you can enjoy a nighttime visit to the symbol of the Eternal City: a guided tour of the Colosseum by moonlight.  On Thursday and Saturday nights. an expert guide will show you the arena floor of this great amphitheater, the underground rooms and passages where gladiators and wild animals waited, and the technical apparatus that lifted them  to the arena floor. The tour also includes the exhibit, Constantine 313 A.D., which marks the 1,700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, which made Christianity lawful for the first time in the Roman world.  Finally the moonlight tour ends on the Valadier scenic lookout with a spectacular view of the Arch of Constantine and the slopes of the Palatine Hill.

Hotel upgrades are, of course, available. The summertime pleasures of the 4-star Crowne Plaza St. Peter’s, for example,  include an outdoor pool, tennis courts and garden.  It costs $516 in July, $486 in August.  All hotels are more expensive in spring and fall.

All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy and are subject to availability.  For additional information about the Rome Midnight Dream package, visit
