“Are women really more adventurous than men?” asks Diane Valenti, founder/owner. According to Peru’s Institute of National Culture, the ratio of women to men hiking the Inca Trail hovers at 53 percent women to 47 percent men. Only 500 people, including hikers, porters and guides, are allowed on the trail each day.
She says Llama Expeditions is ready to do its part to challenge women by organizing 10-day girls’ getaways for women who may want to flex beyond yoga and spa for a few days during the peak trekking season from now through October.

Llama Expeditions is offering a $100 discount for any woman that signs up for an Inca Trail trek between June 1, 2013 and the end of the year. The hike must be completed by the end of 2014.
The 10-day
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu adventure begins and ends in Lima and includes tours of this city plus explorations of colonial Cusco and nearby Inca ruins, visits to a remote weaving community high in the Andes or to an Inca Trail porter community, all preceding four days on the Inca Trail before arriving in Machu Picchu. The per person rate is $4,497 for small groups of two to four. The individual price comes down for larger groups.
Accommodations include small lodges in populated regions and comfortable three-season tents on the Inca Trail.
Guests are encouraged to donate gifts of food, school supplies and clothing that can make a difference in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. Enroute are opportunities for giving, including dining at one restaurant that benefits women and children in some of the poorest communities in the Andes.
