Rafting Adventures on Northern California Reservoir-Controlled Rivers

For Immediate Release

 O.A.R.S. Experiencing Increased Demand
For Rafting Adventures in Northern California This Summer
On Reservoir-Controlled Rivers

ANGELS CAMP, CA, June 18, 2013 – Veteran whitewater rafting outfitter and nature-based adventure travel company O.A.R.S. (http://www.oars.com/) reports that it is experiencing more requests than usual this season for rafting on Northern California’s premier dam-fed rivers: the Tuolumne, American and Klamath.

“Because of low snow pack in the Southern Sierra, folks who would normally raft the Kern, Kings or Kaweah Rivers are looking for other options,” says Steve Markle, O.A.R.S. spokesperson. “Flows from upstream reservoir releases and reliably good rapids make these rivers dependable, predictable and a good rafting bet even in a low water year.”

He also noted that free camping for rafters at their new River Park Adventure Campground in Lotus, CA offers an inexpensive weekend escape that helps make the drive even more appealing. For an extra fee, O.A.R.S. also has four pre-set platform tents available, complete with cots and mattresses, sleeping bags, sheets & pillows, bedside table, rug, and lamp and a private deck with two Adirondack chairs.

Families and first-timers can experience the Class III South Fork of the American River on a half-, full- or two-day trip six days a week, Thursdays - Tuesdays:
½ or 1 Day - http://www.oars.com/california/southforkamericanriverrafting.html
2 Day - http://www.oars.com/california/southforkamericanriverrafting2day.html

Or, the Class IV Middle Fork of the American River is available to those seeking to step it up a notch as a one-day trip seven days a week: http://www.oars.com/california/middleforkamericanrafting.html

The Wild & Scenic Tuolumne River offers one-, two- and three-day programs throughout the summer with headwaters originating in Yosemite National Park. A Craft Beer Tasting event departing July 4 and two Wine on the River departures in August promise customized memories at $899 per person for a three-day trip. See: http://www.oars.com/california/tuolumnerafting.html

For three days and two nights, guests including families with youngsters four years and up can camp and raft the Lower Klamath River with trips launching on Tuesdays and Fridays through August.  The per person double rate is $599 for adults and $499 for youths 17 and under. See: http://www.oars.com/california/klamathriverrafting.html

All programs are inclusive of high-quality inflatable rafts and kayaks (where appropriate), plus related river equipment including paddle, helmet and personal flotation device, and skilled, professional guide services. Overnight trips include catered camping, all meals from lunch on the first day through lunch on the last day and transfers to and from the rafting destination. Camping equipment is available to rent for an additional fee.
