Ski Safaris in the Dolomites

07-02-2013

For Immediate Release

Italy’s Active Travel Leader, Dolomite Mountains Ltd,
Announces Ski Safaris in the Dolomites
With Piste Opportunities in 12 Destinations

DOLOMITES, Italy, July 2, 2013 – Italy’s active leader in guided and self-guided mountain travel, Dolomite Mountains Ltd. http://dolomitemountains.com/en/home.htm, announces a new twist on the theme of safaris. Instead of scouting for wildlife, this time the goal is bagging mountain pistes.

Ski Safaris in the Dolomites encompasses Dolomiti Superski that accesses mountain pistes (prepared alpine routes) linking 12 destinations and featuring 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) for four to eight days.

“Ski Safaris are quite unlike any ski vacation you have had before. Ski the famous Dolomite Mountains, stay in different mountain rifugios every night, and enjoy lift access to hundreds of miles of prepared terrain. You may never ski the same run twice!” notes Agustina Lagos-Marmol, Dolomite Mountains founder.

Different from classic resort skiing, Ski Safaris in the Dolomites encourages skiers to ski from valley to valley in the day and enjoy the hospitality of a rifugio (alpine inn) in the evening. Here guests savor cuisines and cultures unique to each valley region. http://www.dolomitemountains.com/en/winter_spring_trips/dolomite_ski_safari.htm

Custom and group trips with a guide and self-guided tours are available between mid December and mid April. Itineraries may include, among others, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Alta Badia and Val Gardena.

Few places in the world offer the ski terrain of the Dolomites and the ability to experience a dozen ski resorts in under one week.  Throughout the ski holiday skiers explore the traditions, culture, history and cuisine of the Ladin valleys as they move from luxury hotel to one rifugio to the next, with meals paired with outstanding wine.

Mountains that may be experienced from the vantage point of skis include Italy’s Trentino region from Marmolada (Queen of the Dolomites) Glacier to Passo San Pellegrino. Marmolada is the highest peak of all the Dolomites, reaching a height of 3,342 meters (10,965'), and provides some of the most spectacular skiing experiences on earth.  Italy’s Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
