Serengeti "Wine Safari"

02-19-2014

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti Sommelier Adrien Harel Offers A "Wine Safari" Program Highlighting South African Wines

Serengeti, February 19, 2014 – Big cats may be the main draw for a safari trip at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, but resident Sommelier Adrien Harel from Mauritius

is making a strong push to add another reason: South African wines.

Travel through the historic South African wine regions and beyond at the Lodge’s Wine Cellar. Offering more than 100 labels from some of the finest winemakers in South Africa and throughout the world, the Wine Cellar has a varietal for everyone’s palate.

Unwind after a day of spotting lions and leopards with the Wine Tasting program, featuring bottles from well-known masters and fresh-faced newcomers of the Rainbow Nation. Harel leads guests on a fascinating adventure tasting five different South African vintages, providing background materials and tasting notes for guests to take home. Rates start at USD 30.00 per person and tastings may be scheduled once on-site.

To further enlighten your palate, private Wine Cellar Dinners are offered to guests with Harel carefully pairing a diverse group of wines with Chef Curtis Smithen’s aromatic dishes for family and friends to enjoy. Discover old world varieties and South African standouts, blending traditional styles with modern-making techniques. The complete dining experience includes tastings of two different wines of the same grape varietal paired with each dish. Rates begin at USD 145.00 per person and must be scheduled in advance. Programs may also be paired together for a complete offering.
