Austin-Lehman Adventures prides itself on being the expert when it comes to adventure in Alaska. Austin, a former 12-year resident of Alaska, says that traveling with "insiders" can save valuable time and money and ensure rare experiences of a lifetime. He also offers these tidbits of advice:

* The destination's Best Kept Secret? It has to be Fox Island..."while visited by glacier sightseeing boats for lunch, at night you will have the island to yourself at the classic Alaskan-style Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge."
* Austin's personal "top" cuisine experience? A basket of local steamer clams and the fresh salmon fillet at the Twisted Fish in Juneau.
* Any local beers worth sampling? The Alaskan Brewing Company just received gold medals for both their Smoked Porter and Boogie Bitter. They pulled a silver medal for their Alaskan ESB. "You have to try them!"
* What are your favorite places in Alaska? "Aside from Denali...the Chugiak Range, Resurrection Bay and Harding Ice Field impress me the most."
* Any good books or resources you'd recommend reading before coming? Get a copy of "The Last New Land: Stories of Alaska, Past and Present" (edited by Wayne Mergler). "It will totally captivate you!"
* What about insects? "You can avoid them by staying close to the ocean. Our trips are 99% coastal where mosquitoes just aren't a problem."

ALA manages all of the arrangements in its selected destinations. Small groups are held at 12 guests. Rates include first-class accommodations, meals, expert guides, all necessary equipment, entry fees, ground transportation and more.

Austin-Lehman Adventures (ALA) is also the "go-to" company for planning and setting up a private, custom vacation throughout the Americas and Southern Africa.
