One-week Escorted Romantic Germany Tour from $1,795

02-20-2014

Libertyville, IL, February 20, 2014— Fairy-tale castles, medieval towns, and gorgeous Alpine scenery—what could make a better “olde world Europe”  trip than Southern Germany?  TourCrafters is offering an 8-day/7-night escorted tour  that covers all of the above plus  Germany’s most appealing city, Munich.

The Romantic Germany tour starts at $1,795 (land only) and includes airport transfers; transportation (by car, minivan or bus, depending on numbers); English-speaking tour guide; accommodation in 4-star hotels; daily buffet breakfast; sightseeing; welcome and farewell dinners; admission to three castles; and more.

The tour starts and ends at the Frankfurt airport.  After a welcome dinner with the tour escort/guide, the tour heads to historic Heidelberg, Germany’s oldest and most picturesque university town, to visit the old town and magnificent Heidelberg Castle. Then a drive through the Black Forest ends in another university town, Freiburg, famous for its beautiful cathedral and tower on the central market square. In Titisee, on the scenic lake of the same name, tour participants enjoy a Black Forest experience with Black Forest cake and coffee and a cuckoo clock presentation.

After a visit to Lindau’s old town, on a photogenic island in Lake Constance, a scenic drive through the Bavarian Alps leads to Füssen and the definitive fairy-tale castle, Neuschwanwanstein,  built by “Mad” King Ludwig and said to be the model for Disney.   A stop in Oberammergau, famed for its Passion Play performed every 10 years since 1633, and  an overnight in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany’s most popular mountain (and ski) resort, is followed by a detour over the border to another famous ski resort, Innsbruck, Austria.

On the way to Munich there’s a visit to lovely Linderhof Castle, another of King Ludwig’s fancies, and in Munich a tour of the city’s main attractions including Marienplatz square’s famous clock tower, and a traditional Bavarian farewell dinner.  The final stop on the way to Frankfurt airport is Rothenburg ob  der Tauber,  a picture-postcard-perfect medieval town, where the group is offered a “snow ball” tasting (it’s the signature pastry of Rothenburg).

The $1,795 price quoted is per person, double occupancy, in a tour group, but this tour can also be arranged on a private basis for couples, friends or families.  In that case the price per person for two is $5,185, for four $3,315, or for six $2,579. Prices do not include transatlantic air fare.  For more information about the Romantic Germany tour, visit http://sales.tourcrafters.com/tour.lasso?ID=160.  For reservations, call 800-482-5995.
