Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti’s Discovery Centre Welcomes Dr. Jan Ramer
of Gorilla Doctors in Support of Gorilla Conservation Efforts
Serengeti, March 24, 2014 – Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti will host Dr. Jan Ramer, Regional Veterinary Manager for the Gorilla Doctors regional headquarters in Rwanda, as part of the Discovery Centre's continued efforts to support local wildlife and conservation programs. Dr. Jan will give three special talks for Lodge guests at the Discovery Centre on April 7, 8 and 9, 2014.
The talks with Dr. Jan Ramer are offered in conjunction with the Discovery Centre, the first lodge-based conservation research and education platform in the Serengeti that provides presentations, activities and seminars with the world’s top wildlife experts and thought-leaders. The arrival of Dr. Jan also marks the Discovery Centre’s commitment to support and expand conservation efforts and activities beyond Tanzania to include neighboring nations such as Rwanda and other East African countries.
The Gorilla Doctors are dedicated to saving the lives of Central Africa’s critically-endangered mountain gorillas and Grauer's gorillas through health care. Their international team of veterinarians is the only group providing these animals with direct, hands-on care in the wild.
Dr. Jan Ramer’s talks at the Discovery Centre are designed to educate guests about how the team is saving the lives of these gorillas, and answer any questions on how they may participate in these efforts through the Discovery Centre’s initiatives. More information about Dr. Jan can be found on her blog: http://gorilladoctorsblog.org/field-blog/2014/3/16/poached-orphan-gorilla-finds-sanctuary-at-the-senkwekwe-cent.html
Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti began working with the Gorilla Doctors in partnership with charitable auctions and the collaboration has since grown. Rwanda and Tanzania are also partners in tourism for guests who wish to experience all that the African wild has to offer. A gorilla trek through Rwanda is a wonderful addition to any safari trip to Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti.
