04-28-2014

Libertyville, IL, April 28, 2014—TourCrafters, the dependable Italian tour operator with 34 years of experience, is offering a new, mid-week 14-day Highlights of Italy package that starts at $2,665 in 3-star Superior hotels ($2,925 in 4-star hotels), includes daily breakfast and covers Venice, Florence, the Amalfi Coast and Rome.  The land-only package, which has daily departures from June 1 to October 31, can start from Venice or, in reverse, from Rome.  Transportation between cities is in second class on the new high-speed Italo train that features air-conditioning, reclining seats, catering by Eataly,  free WiFi and Live TV.

In fairy-tale Venice, the world’s most beautiful and romantic city, the package includes a walking tour of the most important sites and its atmospheric canals and bridges.   Hotel accommodation for two nights is in either the charming 3-star Santa Chiara or the elegant 4-star Carlton & Grand Canal, both of which overlook the Grand Canal near the train station.

Four nights in Florence, at either the 3-star Porta Faenza (it’s in a palazzo) or the Hotel Kraft (it boasts a terrace with hanging garden and pool) allows time to see Florence.and to make Tuscan specialties in a special cooking class.  The Florence stay also includes a full day excursion to the Cinque Terre, those five cliff-hanging villages on the Ligurian coast, and a full day excursion through the countryside of Tuscany to those medieval gems, the city of Siena and  the town of San Gimignano.

The Italo train then stops in Salerno, at the eastern end of the Amalfi Coast, where a transfer is provided to the seaside town of Amalfi and the Grand Hotel Excelsior, whose rooms all have terraces with a sea view.  Three nights there provide plenty of free time for exploring the picturesque towns of this legendary coast or even taking a boat excursion to the magical isle of Capri.

The package winds up with four nights in Rome, at either the 3-star comfortable Hotel Quattro Fontane, which is in the historic center, or the 4-star historic Hotel Quirinale, whose garden is connected to the Rome opera.  In Rome you’ll be given a ticket for a 48-hour Hop On Hop Off tour, as well as an Elite Discovery Walking Tour, and a departure transfer from the hotel to the Rome airport.

All prices are per person, double occupancy, and are subject to availability.  Prices do not include air fare—which can be arranged by TourCrafters’ reservationists—or city tax, which must be paid directly to the hotel in euros.  For more information about the Highlights of Italy package, visit www.tourcrafters.com, click “Special Offers” and then “Deal of the Week.”  For reservations, call 800-482-5995.
