ISRAEL LAUNCHES NEW INITIATIVES SIMPLIFYING TRAVEL FROM JERUSALEM TO TEL AVIV'S BEACHES

New York - June 25, 2014: Israel has announced the launch of two new travel initiatives this week, simplifying travel for visitors to Jerusalem looking to experience Tel Aviv's renowned Mediterranean beaches.

Jerusalem's First Station complex, the city's Ottoman-era train station turned entertainment hotspot, will for the first-time ever, boast a 60-foot outdoor sand beach, featuring lounge chairs, parasols, a beach volleyball court, outdoor showers, a beach bar and cafe and a surfing simulator for children.

In addition, visitors to Jerusalem can travel to Tel Aviv's beaches - just an hour away - on Friday morning via the all-new Beach Bus, which departs every Friday at 10:00am and 10:05am from the Katamon and Rehavia districts of Jerusalem and stops at the Dolphinarium in Tel Aviv. The Beach Bus also offers return transport from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at 3:30pm.

"We are thrilled to announce the launch of two new tourism initiatives which further simply access to Tel Aviv's beaches for residents and visitors to Jerusalem," said Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America, "and provide additional excitement for travelers arriving in Israel this summer."
