Loudonville Looks Great For Turning 200 Years Old!

Loudonville, Ohio- It is hard to believe that Loudonville will be 200 years old! Help the town celebrate with fun-filled, affordable family fun events running August 6^th - 10^th. Most events are free and all events are open to the public.

The weeklong event will provide the unveiling of the 1964 time capsule, hayrides, carriage rides, tug-o-war contest, best decorated canoe contest, music from local bands such as Tightrope and Steadyfire, area bands such as The Red Ball Jets, Phil Dirt and the Dozers, and so much more!

Highlight events include a Vaudeville re-enactment of the infamous Mabel Barrera, Carson & Barnes Circus, pioneer and Native American re-enactments and a vintage baseball game! Mabel Barrera, billed as the "Queen of Comic Opera," and Al Jolson will come back to life August 9^th, at the Ohio Theatre beginning at 7:30pm. Performances will include songs from 1913-1914 featured during national tours of the country's major theaters.

Carson & Barnes Circus is the "World's Biggest Big-Top Circus!" Enjoy trapeze artists flying through the air, elephants, and more under the big-top. The circus comes to town August 7^th with two shows: 4:30pm and 7:30pm. Pre-sale tickets are sold at Lingenfelter Jewelers, Cleo Redd Fisher Museum, and the Loudonville Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are also sold at the door day of the event.

Enjoy the game as it originally began - an 1860's Vintage Baseball Game Doubleheader of course! The Mansfield Independents will play against the Dayton Clodbusters, followed by the Dayton/Mansfield Nine against the Loudonville Buzzards. Played without gloves and where men have to ask the ladies attending if it is ok to roll up their sleeves during the game. Oh, how things have changed!

Re-enactments of a pioneer lifestyle will be provided by Colonel Crawford's Company, Chris Beck, The 1^st Ohio Light Artillery, Battery D will provide a glimpse into the life of what it was like to begin life in Loudonville.

Native American portrayals will be held by the Greentown Preservation Association. Look for Bill Jones, an authentic re-enactor of a Lenape Delaware Indian warrior. The Greentown Preservation Association wants to preserve the cultural and historical integrity and conserve the archaeological and geological significance of the Delaware Indian Village of Greentown.

Pie eating contests, sack races, and more will have you remembering "the good ole days." Loudonville invites you to come and join in on the Bicentennial celebration of 200 Years of Progress.
