MAYFLOWER INN & SPA INTRODUCES PRE AND POST MARATHON RETREATS FOR RUNNERS OF ALL LEVELS

02-27-2008

~Connecticut Country House Hotel Provides Marathon-Focused Experiences~

WASHINGTON, CT, February 25, 2008 – Less than two hours from New York City, the acclaimed Mayflower Inn & Spa is providing the bookends to all marathon experiences.  Nestled among 58 acres, the five-star country house hotel and Destination Spa, which focuses on health and wellness, is offering marathon runners personal trainers, private consultations with staff dieticians, and regular check-ins before and after their stay to ensure participants of all fitness levels get the most out of their marathon experience.

Pre-Marathon Retreat

The Mayflower’s Pre-Marathon Retreat begins prior to guest’s arrival with a fitness advisor consultation to discuss the runner’s training regimen and establish goals for their visit.  Upon arrival, participants will meet with a staff dietician to establish a healthy meal plan for their stay as well as long-term eating goals to maintain throughout their preparation for the race.  The Mayflower Spa will provide fitness classes to ensure runners are successful in their cross-training regime as well as spa treatments to ward off soreness and keep participants on track.  On the final day of the Pre-Marathon Retreat, runners will meet with their personal fitness advisor to discuss their progress and establish a training schedule for after they leave the Mayflower.  Guests can expect their fitness advisor to check-in throughout the remaining months of training to ensure they arrive at the starting line in their best form.

Post-Marathon Retreat

The Post-Marathon Retreat can begin at the finish line of the race, for those participating in the New York City marathon, when a private car will meet runners to whisk them up to the bucolic hills of Litchfield County.  Other pick-up options include car service from participant’s hotel, apartment or directly from the airport for those arriving following marathon experiences in other cities.  Each car will be outfitted with water and snacks to aid in the re-hydration process.  Guests will spend the night of their arrival with a nutritionist and trainer to craft a plan for post-race diet and exercise.  The Mayflower Spa will arrange for low-impact classes and exercise options to manage runner’s recovery from the race as well as massages and pedicures to aid in the release of soreness.  Participants will depart with a thoughtful plan for their post-marathon fitness and diet routine.

The Mayflower Inn & Spa’s Pre and Post Marathon Retreats begin at $2300 for two nights and go up from there based on additional nights.  All Marathon Retreats include accommodations, three healthful meals a day, personal fitness advisor, dietician consultations, unlimited fitness classes and spa treatments and post-visit check-ins with additional advisement.
