Rusty Parrot wolf and grizzly adventure offers luxury gone wild
Jackson, Wyoming – February 22, 2008 – “Nature, red in tooth and claw,” sure. But the social sophistication of a wolf pack can make its human top-of-the-food-chain counterparts look downright brutal, even as the grizzlies’ primal power dwarfs our own. Explore the inner workings of predator panache in the still-protected habitat of Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley with Rusty Parrot Lodge & Spa’s wild—and wildly luxurious—2008 Grizzlies and Wolves Safari. The exclusive three- and four-night packages, offered in conjunction with the nonprofit Teton Science Schools’ Wildlife Expeditions, combine top naturalist-led eco-adventure with the Rusty Parrot’s premium pampering for a uniquely U.S. safari.
Guests’ pre-safari night at the Rusty Parrot—an easy stroll from downtown Jackson’s intriguing shops and galleries—includes a wine and cheese welcome orientation with a Wildlife Expeditions biologist. The post-safari stay offers the epicurean delights of a group dinner at the lodge’s Four Diamond-rated Wild Sage restaurant. In the field, small groups of eight or fewer travel by custom safari vehicle into Yellowstone’s renowned grizzly and wolf territory. Spring babies on view can include elk and bison calves and nesting trumpeter swans, white pelicans and bald eagles, as well as wolf pups and bear cubs. While on safari, guests overnight in Cooke City, Montana. Grizzlies and Wolves Safari package rates start from $1,150 per person, double occupancy, for the 3-night plan, and are available on specific dates from April 26 through May 31, 2008.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the Rusty Parrot Lodge & Spa was built in 1990 by owner Ron Harrison, who envisioned a different type of lodge near the shopping, art galleries, and restaurants of Jackson’s Town Square. Since its inception, the lodge has been recognized with many prestigious awards with regular placements on the Conde Nast Traveler Gold List, and Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards--including being named one of the 2008 World’s Best Hotel Values by Travel + Leisure readers. The Rusty Parrot has been featured in media from NBC's “The Today Show” to USA Today and The New York Times. Both the Rusty Parrot and its Wild Sage continue to receive the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award.
