If you love travel with authentic character and an interesting historical thread, come with us to the Great Plains or Desert Southwest. We'll meet you at the intersection of past lives and present moments, near the junction of history and current events…
The Dakotas: Badlands, bison, and the Black Hills Theodore Roosevelt wrote that if it hadn't been for his time in the Dakotas, he would never have been president. While you're in the territory, meet present-day bison rancher and author Dan O'Brien at his Brokenheart Ranch, where he took thirteen orphaned bison calves and converted his cattle ranch into a bison ranch more in tune with Great Plains grasslands. Walk the quiet landscape, ride a steam train, see Mount Rushmore, and watch for pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, wild horses, and other plains wildlife and birds. Find out more >
