Welcome to the Thailand Tourism e-Newsletter – your guide to the latest news and information from Thailand!

FROM THE DIRECTOR

As the weather becomes warmer around the Gulf of Thailand, activity in the North flourishes- especially since this area now hosts daily international flights. I highly recommend traveling to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, where visitors can experience elephant camps, shopping, trekking and hill tribe villages.

Chiang Mai Airport has started hosting daily international flights which connect with Souel, Tokyo, Singapore, Taipei, Kumming (China), Vientiane and Luang Prabang (Laos), and Yangoon and Mandalay (Myanmar). Domestic flights connect to Bangkok, Samui, Phuket, Mai Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Mae Sot, Phitsanulok, and Sukhothai.

When planning for yourself or for others, it is important to note that carriers out of Chiang Mai now include Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, , Korean Air, Silk Air, Air Andaman, Mandarin Airlines, Lao Aviation and Air Mandalay.

Whether traveling alone, with a family, or in a group tour, every visitor will appreciate this region of Thailand. This issue of our newsletter provides options for exciting activities and accommodation for everyone. I encourage future visitors to learn more about this region of Thailand at www.tourismthailand.org. For specific questions please feel free to reach out at 1-800-Thailand.

The city is also blessed with pristine natural resources of mountains, waterfalls, and an untouched landscape. Doi Suthep, topped by one of Thailand's holiest wats, rises behind the city, providing a dramatic backdrop and fine views of the city. The residents are warm, gracious and congenial. By providing authentic hospitality, the hosts make visits memorable and meaningful. Moreover, visitors
