BETWEEN THE SHEETS: WHAT YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OPERATING A B&B

10-11-2007

Cape Cod Bay, MA – If Tori Spelling and her husband had access to some “hands on” training and innside innformation before debuting their reality show “Inn Love” perhaps they could have avoided some of the pitfalls of newbie innkeepers. Veteran innkeepers on Cape Cod plan to offer just such guidance to aspiring innkeepers with a series of weekend innkeeping seminars designed to address such issues as “raising children at the inn” and “attaining 5-star recognition” along with the “inns and outs” of business planning, financing, and marketing a bed and breakfast inn.

Debuting their own reality “show” on Martin Luther King weekend (January 18-20, 2008) the 17 Bed and Breakfasts of Historic Cape Cod Bay present “INNtense...INNvaluable...INNtimate Education for Aspiring Innkeepers” a 3-day/2-night weekend seminar that promises comprehensive coverage of personal and professional topics, plus inn tours, special topic breakout sessions led by active innkeepers, and a wine tasting at one of the area’s premier wine shops where participants will get a chance to chat with the innkeepers in an informal setting.

Aspiring innkeepers will be introduced to a diverse group of innkeepers, from single parents to ex-patriates, and be able to tour a variety of inns, including 3-room B&Bs, full service country inns, and inns with spas. Unique to this innkeeping program is the opportunity to discuss sensitive issues that affect innkeepers’ personal lives, such as innkeeping with children or as a single parent, as well as the nitty gritty aspects of how to host a B&B cooking school, remodeling and decorating, and networking to build business, among others.

The price of the program is $175 per person or $195 per couple, which covers the cost of the materials, lunch on Saturday, and the wine tasting. Accommodations are additional, however, each of the 17 Bed and Breakfasts of Historic Cape Cod Bay are offering a special rate for those attending the weekend seminar.

For more information visit http://www.historiccapecodbay.com, where you can read profiles of each inn, view inn photos, and find contact information to make reservations. Rates for the package vary by inn and space is limited. Additional innkeeping seminars are planned for February 29-March 2, and March 28-30.

The Bed and Breakfasts of Historic Cape Cod Bay Association was founded in April of 2006 for the sole purpose of marketing and promoting the historic district along the Old Kings Highway (Route 6A), from Sandwich to Brewster.
