RICHMOND, VA (March 20, 2008)-Planning and booking a trip to the Richmond Region has never been easier thanks to an all-new travel packages Web site recently launched by the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau (RMCVB). The new site, www.richmondgetaways.com bundles hotels, dining, attractions, spas, events and more into a one-stop-shopping experience.
The site was developed in response to today's increasingly demanding, time-strapped consumers who are looking for convenient, online booking options. According to a recent Travel Industry Association (TIA) study, one-fourth (25%) of travelers surveyed said they had bought a travel package within the past three years. A package is defined as a trip including at least transportation and a place to stay all for one price. Online travel planning shows no signs of slowing down. The new travel package site gives the RMCVB an additional tool to promote the Region and support area hotels. The site is divided into 10 categories offering options such as Romance, Sports and Adventure, Special Events, Shopping and Girlfriend Getaways. Site visitors can get a sense of what the Region has to offer, whether they purchase a package or not.

The site is user friendly for both hotels and attractions posting packages. Participating hotels range from the Five-star, Five-diamond Jefferson Hotel and the quaint Grace Manor Inn to the affordable Holiday Inn Express-each offering one-time special deals or ongoing packages.
RMCVB is working with area hotels, attractions, restaurants and event organizers to offer even more variety in package selections, giving choosy visitors even more reasons to visit.
