DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. - April 1, 2008 - The Shores Resort & Spa is one of more than 30 independent, upscale and luxury hotels, resorts and golf clubs in the United States managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts. As the only hip, luxury, boutique resort along Florida's entire Atlantic coast north of South Beach, The Shores Resort & Spa presents the 6th Annual Shores Wine & Food Festival, Saturday, June 28, 2008. The festival features events that educate and enhance the wine tasting experience and also tempt discerning palates with cuisine from the award-winning Azure culinary team as well as over 150 allocated wines from around the World and a silent auction, where all proceeds benefit local scholarship funds. Wine connoisseurs and novices enjoy a full day of happenings at The Shores Wine & Food Festival with rates starting at $149 for the night or The Shores Grand Tasting package.

To kick off the festival, at the Wine Makers Luncheon, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., wine enthusiasts have the opportunity to discover the perfect wine not only to match personal preferences but also to best compliment a five-course meal with wine pairings. Tickets are $70 per person. Overnight guests of The Shores enjoy $65 per person.

The evening segue ways into the Grand Tasting evening event which features over 150 wines from California, Oregon, Washington, Spain, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand and Portugal. Rare wines are paired with imaginative food and music to match. All tasted wines are available for purchase at least 30 percent off normal resort pricing. The Grand Tasting is $95 per person and lasts from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Guests staying at The Shores enjoy $85 per person. Jed Steele of Steele Wines and Josh Maloney of Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery will be among the winemakers present for the event.

A silent auction is held during the evening events where all proceeds are contributed to Daytona Beach College of Hospitality and Florida State University School of Medicine scholarship programs. The Silent Auction items include everything from resort stays, unique gifts, wine gift baskets, vacations to various destinations and even a private dinner for eight prepared by Chef Lonny Huot at the winner's home. Tickets to the Grand Tasting are tax deductible up to $10.
