“KAYAKS, TUNES, AND BREWS” EXTRAVAGANZA TO KICK OFF THE SUMMER AT DEEP CREEK LAKE IN WESTERN MARYLAND

Oakland, MD, APRIL 2, 2008: The “Kayaks, Tunes, and Brews” event is planned for May 24 at the Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI), located in McHenry, Maryland, overlooking Deep Creek Lake - Maryland's four-season resort. Admission tickets will be sold at the entrance for $20; the price of admission includes a souvenir beer mug and 10 tickets for the beer tasting event and for the family-oriented activities. Children under 12 are admitted free. Organized by our local HART for Animals, Inc., the funds raised through the event will go towards the building of a new animal adoption center.

Nearby Wisp Resort will provide food, beverages, and entertainment, including access to its ski lift with views of the entire county, the mountain coaster, buggies, Diggler mountain scooters, and a climbing wall. In addition to the main attractions, there will be many children's activities, dog and cat areas, and events for family pets, live bands, dancing, carriage rides, pony rides, face painting, and many more activities.

The event, according to HART's Deb Clatterbuck, is "to create a ‘family fun’ occasion that will raise funds for the animal adoption center and share the beauty of our mountains with our entire community and visitors.”  Volunteers who wish to help can contact Deb at 301-501-0314.

Vendors wishing to participate in the event can contact HART’s President, Candy DeGiovanni at 301-334-4278 or Nancy Beakes, ASCI’s Event and Facility Coordinator, at 301-387-3250. All food and beverage vendors must be non-profit, but other vendors can be either non-profit or for profit. The vendor registration will be $50 for non-profit organizations and $100 for companies or individuals that are for profit. Vendors will retain 100% of their sales. Based on past attendance, all the organizations involved expect a crowd of 1,000 to 1,500 people.
