Historical Hudson's Bay Company Fur Trade Tours: A Northern Manitoba Adventure - Inclusive from Winnipeg (August 14 to 18 and August 23 & 24, 2008)

Canada's National History Society in conjunction with Winnipeg, Manitoba based Heartland International Travel and Tours, is offering two all-inclusive tours to experience the incredible history of the Hudson's Bay Company's fur trade era in Manitoba.

Tour 1 - Aug 14-18 includes 3 nights at Winnipeg's Hotel Fort Garry, visit to the HBC Archives, Manitoba Museum and Lower Fort Garry plus a History Television's "Quest for the Bay" presentation. Charter by private aircraft to Norway House where you will experience an authentic York Boat ride and visit the HBC buildings and site. Enjoy an overnight in Churchill with historical presentation. Travel by Zodiac across the Churchill River, home to hundreds of Beluga whales, to impressive Prince of Wales Fort and Sloop Cove. Fly to remote York Factory, the most significant HBC historic site in North America and finally visit Manitoba Hydro's Kettle Rapids electric generating dam in Gillam before returning to Winnipeg.

 

For $2589.00 CDN + GST this fully -escorted package includes 3 overnights and breakfasts at Hotel Fort Garry, all touring and presentations as listed above, private charter flights throughout, all meals and transfers (except to and from Htl Ft Garry Aug 14&18).

Tour 2 - Aug 23 & 24 includes above portion by charter aircraft to Norway House, Churchill, York Factory and Gillam. Special interest is that Pierre Berton Award winning author Ken McGoogan will be a guest host. He is well known for the Ancient Mariner: The Amazing Adventures of Samuel Hearne
