Value World Tours, one of America’s premier international river cruise specialists, is offering a discount of $500 per person or $1000 per couple on two sailings as a way of introducing their newest river cruise destination, India.  A 10 night  safari cruise is the focal point of a two week package that features Calcutta and the Brahmaputra River between Dibrugarh and Guwahati.  Discounted packages begin in Calcutta on November 11 and December 13, 2008. Although India is often equated with crowdedness, the “Brahmaputra Adventure” package highlights  India’s unique wilderness areas.

Passengers stay two nights at the 5* Oberoi Grand in Calcutta before the cruise.  A half day of sightseeing in Calcutta includes several British landmarks such as Victoria Memorial and South Park Street Cemetery. On day 3 a short flight (included)  takes passengers to Dibrugarh in the state of Assam to embark the MV Sukapha.  The deluxe MV Sukapha carries a maximum of 24 passengers in outside cabins with air conditioning and all meals and daily escorted sightseeing included.  This small vessel has a spa with massages and facials available.  Remote Indian villages are visited where tourists are rarely seen.  On Majuli Island,  passengers tour the Auniati monastery and witness a unique dance performance at the Kamalabari monastery after lunching with the Mising tribe.  A unique highlight during the cruise is an early morning elephant ride in Kaziranga National Park where the rare one horned rhinos are viewed up close in the wild.  There is also a jeep safari that covers more territory in this large park to see abundant birdlife and animals such as swamp deer, wild pig, sambar, and maybe even a tiger.  Each leisure day has a variety of new activities:  strolling through a stone statue park, riding a rickshaw
