“My Tale of Two Cities” movie about Pittsburgh premieres this weekend
SONOMA, Calif. – “My Tale of Two Cities,” a Steeltown Entertainment Project, premieres April 11-12 at the Sonoma Film Festival.
The film, a humorous and poignant tale, touches on several key themes:
· Contrary to the famous Thomas Wolfe quote, the film’s writer, director and star Carl Kurlander proves “You can go home again.”
· Having a “midlife crisis” and “making a comeback” are things both people and cities must tackle.
· Places like Pittsburgh are forced to re-invent themselves all the time. Lessons learned in their struggle provide a roadmap for the country at large as it faces similar challenges.
“Carl has made a film that encapsulates the essence of Pittsburgh, its people and its pride,” said Tinsy Lipchak, Executive Director of Tourism & Cultural Heritage for VisitPittsburgh.
As part of the film premier festivities, a “Pittsburgh Reunion Party” will be taking place in Sonoma. Producers of the film, Steeltown Entertainment Project and 1905 Productions, and Pittsburgh “cheerleaders,” including staff from VisitPittsburgh, are in northern California to host the reunion party where they will share their city’s story with Pittsburgh ex-patriots and movie fans who could find a special message in this comeback story.
The Pittsburgh Reunion, which takes place at Steiners Tavern in Sonoma, Calif., this evening, features Pittsburgh originals like Iron City Beer, Heinz Ketchup and Pickles, Betsy Ann Chocolates, Isley’s Chipped Chopped Ham, and Steelers black and gold tortilla chips. Guests have a chance to win Steelers Terrible Towels, Pittsburgh 250 memorabilia and special baskets filled with Pittsburgh goodies.
The Pittsburgh Reunion Party and film – which will have its Pittsburgh premier on November 28 – are part of the Pittsburgh 250 celebration.
