10-23-2007

Aspen/Snowmass, CO., October 15, 2007 - The legendary jam band Blues Traveler will kick off this season’s first Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series on Saturday, December 8.  The free performance will take place at the base of Aspen Mountain during the Aspen Winternational Audi FIS Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup races.

With a career spanning 20 years and hits like “Run-Around,” “Hook” and “But Anyway,” Blues Traveler is well-known for their pop infused blues and rock sound.  The Grammy Award-winning band has sold over 10 million albums since they began their career in 1987.  Their newest album, Cover Yourself, is an acoustic “best of” CD, and will be released on October 30.

“A phenomenal act to kick off our season,” says John Rigney, Aspen Skiing Company Vice President of Sales and Events “Our Bud Light Hi-Fi Series continues to grow in popularity each year and Blues Traveler performing for free in Aspen/Snowmass will be an amazing experience for locals, destination guests and everyone celebrating the return of World Cup racing to Aspen.”

This year’s Women’s World Cup will feature both speed and technical races.  Power and finesse will be on display as Aspen’s first women’s downhill since 1988 takes place on Friday, December 7, followed by the super G on Saturday, December 8, and the slalom on Sunday, December 9. The races will be the focal point of a weekend packed with additional events including gondola plaza festivals, fireworks, music and parties.

The popular FREE Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series features five outdoor concerts in Aspen and Snowmass, held during key events and peak weekends throughout the season.  Past performers include The English Beat, Everclear, P.O.D., The Vandals, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and more.  Thanks to our sponsors Bud Light, Helly Hansen, Salomon, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, ResortQuest, Town of Snowmass Village and KSPN.
