MYSTERIES, INTRIGUE, MONARCHS AND EVEN MURDER TAKE CENTER STAGE”

04-16-2008

ON ATP VACATIONS’ BRITAIN-BASED “LAND OF MYSTERIES AND MONARCHS

Torrance, CA, April 2008 – From the company that puts an element of customization in all its tours is a new independent program that delves into the mysteries, history and royalty of Britain, and keeps participants off balance as they participate in a Murder Mystery Weekend.  The 11-day “Land of Mysteries and Monarchs” includes tours of Stonehenge and the Georgian city of Bath, entry to the Tower of London, Berkeley Castle and other top ranked sites, as well as an evening exploration of old London with the highly-acclaimed Richard Jones’ “Jack the Ripper” Tour (or “Ghosts of London").  The tour, offered April through October, includes 3- and 4-star hotels, full breakfast daily, two dinners, five-day car rental, Stonehenge tour with transportation, entry fees to numerous sites, sightseeing and airport transfers.  Prices start at $2,795 per person, double.

After being picked up at the airport in London by an authentic London cab, participants make their way to their centrally located 4-star London hotel, their home for the first three nights.  The London sights include a flight on the London Eye, touring the Tower of London where Beefeaters regale the audience with the Tower’s myths and legends, visiting King Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace with its famous garden maze, and one of London’s most sought out walking tours – “Jack the Ripper” or “Ghosts of London,” led by experts who bring the events ‘to life.’

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the vacation is the Murder Mystery Weekend – set in the midst of Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon.  In addition to a cocktail reception, full dinners and breakfasts are served as guests use their best Sherlock Holmes’ skills to work through the mystery.  Plenty of free time is left for exploring the village and walking the same streets as Shakespeare.  Other highlights beyond London include tours of Winchester, which began life in 150BC; 5,000-year-old Stonehenge; and the World Heritage city of Bath.  Pre-arranged independent excursions run the gamut -- the 900-year-old official residence of the Queen, Windsor Castle; the Cotswolds where a stop at the Cotswold Farm Park is highly recommended; and either Berkeley or Sudeley Castle, both with their own fascinating histories.

Being treated as royalty isn’t just a “cliché” on this adventure – a two-night stay at the luxury Thornbury Castle, a five hundred-year-old Tudor castle used by King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and now an award-winning hotel, makes it real.  The castle’s history can be felt in every room and every garden of this palatial complex as guests enjoy luxury accommodations, tea in drawing rooms and strolls through the English gardens.
