Germany’s Grande Dame Hotel is Reborn – Will Offer a New Standard In Personal Service and Luxury

ATLANTA (April 14, 2008) – Capella Hotels and Resorts has announced that Breidenbacher Hof, Düsseldorf, Germany’s storied hospitality landmark, will once again welcome hotel guests on May 19, 2008.  The opening will mark a true renaissance for the hotel, re-introducing guests to the European grandeur that Breidenbacher Hof symbolized for more than 175 years, while revealing a very modern sense of style and service tailored to today’s top-tier guests.

            The opening also marks a “homecoming” of sorts for legendary German-born hotelier Horst Schulze, who earned international fame securing Ritz-Carlton’s reputation for superior service, and whose new Capella Hotels and Resorts brand has earned accolades following the opening of its first hotels in Ireland and Austria.  Six additional Capella Hotels and Resorts are scheduled to open in 2008 and early 2009, in locations including Singapore, Mexico and the United States.

Opened originally in 1812, Breidenbacher Hof has consistently represented excellence and superb service in the heart of Düsseldorf’s most elegant district, even as the hotel itself has undergone several incarnations (including reconstruction following its demolition in World War II).  Pearl of Kuwait Real Estate began construction of an entirely new Breidenbacher Hof on the hotel’s original site in 2006.  ChandlerKBS has provided development and project management services.  Hentrich – Petschnigg & Partner (HPP) is the project architect, and Hotel Interior Design (HID) developed the interior design.  Capella Hotels and Resorts operates the hotel and the serviced residential apartments.
