04-18-2008

~New 25,000 Square-Foot Spa to Open in December 2008 as Part of Resort’s

$50 Million Overall Renovation Project~

BRETTON WOODS, NH, April 17, 2008 – Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH will debut a new full-service 25,000 square-foot spa in December 2008, adding to the amenities that define this historic Grande Dame’s reputation as a four-season resort destination.    The Spa at Mount Washington Resort will be designed with the natural beauty of the surrounding White Mountains in mind and will feature customized products using local alpine botanicals for signature treatments.

The Spa at Mount Washington Resort will emphasize holistic and essential spa services that can be customized to the individual needs of the guest.  The Spa will have 13 treatment rooms including five dedicated massage rooms, one couples room, three facial rooms, three multi-purpose rooms, and one deluxe wet room with a Vichy shower, treatment tub with air jets, and color therapy.

One feature of the spa will be the Spa Suite – a cluster of four treatment rooms for massage, facial, body and bath treatments, and its own private lounge.  The Spa Suite will be ideal for groups such as spa parties, girls’ getaways, and celebrations.

The women and men’s private areas will each have a dry lounge for quiet waiting and resting in soft, comfortable lounge chairs.  The wet lounge will feature steam and sauna rooms. A co-ed dry lounge will be available for couples to spend time together before and after spa services.

The Spa will include a full-service image center offering hair care, hand and foot treatments, manicures, and pedicures.  A fitness studio with Cybex strength training equipment, cardio machines with entertainment systems, and free weights will also be available to spa guests.  Adjacent to the fitness studio will be private locker rooms, a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, as well as an outdoor relaxation deck.

“We’re pleased to be adding a luxurious spa experience to the myriad of activities that make Mount Washington Resort a historic favorite for everything from corporate retreats and family getaways to romantic escapes,” said Resort President Pat Corso.

The Spa opening is just one of many significant renovations and enhancements scheduled to take place over the next few years at Mount Washington Resort.  Along with the new Spa, a total of 30,000 square feet of meeting space will also debut in December 2008.  A $2 million restoration of the 900-foot wrap-around Veranda, Great Hall, and Dining Room was completed in May 2007; and a $7 million renovation of the Resort’s two golf courses is underway with the 18-hole Mount Washington Course, having been caringly restored to its original Donald Ross design, scheduled to open August 1, 2008.  This renovation will be followed by a nine-hole expansion to the Mount Pleasant Course in 2011.  Plans for the proposed development of approximately 1,000 new homes and home sites over the next decade are also underway with the first offerings expected to become available in 2008.
