04-19-2008

BVI MUSIC FEST AND JAZZ ON THE HILL 2008
WHERE THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC MEET THE SOUNDS OF NATURE

CANE GARDEN BAY, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS - APRIL 18, 2008 - Visitors have the opportunity to hear more than just the lapping waters of the Caribbean Sea as BVI Music Fest 2008 kicks into high gear with some of the brightest stars from the Calypso, R&B, Reggae, Fungi and Jazz worlds delivering unforgettable performances sure to please audiences from around the globe. Recognized as one of the most breathtaking destinations in the world, the
British Virgin Islands is proud to host the annual festival at Cane Garden Bay, May 23 - 25, where this spectacular event has been held the previous seven years.
"Each year, the British Virgin Islands music festival gets bigger and better, which helps promote our tourism growth," said Janis Braithwaite-Edwards, director of tourism for the
British Virgin Islands Tourist Board. "This musical event is an ideal representation of the heartbeat of the destination."
Award winning and world-renowned artists will take center stage at the annual music fest.  The festivities kick off on Friday with the colorful sounds of calypso, while guests feel the Caribbean vibes with the rhythmic beats of reggae and dancehall at Saturday's performances. Mellowing out on Sunday, the smooth, sweet sounds of soul, jazz and R&B music will take the stage.  In between headliner acts, guests can enjoy mixes from various DJs as well as a fashion show featuring the styles of the Caribbean.
Remaining an undeveloped haven for natural treasures, the BVI boasts no high-rise hotels, casinos or crowds, but instead showcases the purity of the land -- from pristine beaches with powdery sand to extensive coral reefs responsible for claiming renowned wrecks. Whether discovering the natural phenomena of The Baths or diving the fabled Wreck of the Rhone, the BVI is rich with 60 storied islands including Tortola and Virgin Gorda and bountiful with Nature's Little Secrets.
