April 15, 2008, BETHEL, N.Y. – The Museum at Bethel Woods, located at the historic site of the original 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair, (www.BethelWoodsCenter.org), is the first national tourist destination celebrating the music and culture of the 1960s. The Museum will open its doors to the public on Monday, June 2, 2008. Advance tickets are now available online at www.BethelWoodsCenter.org or by phone through Ticketmaster at (845) 454-3388.
The Museum at Bethel Woods explores the unique experience of the 1969 Woodstock festival, its significance as a culminating event of a transformational decade, and the ongoing legacy of the 1960s and Woodstock. Through personal stories, profiles, immersive multi-media exhibits, engaging programs and educational events, The Museum will encourage inter-generational dialogue about important ideas and issues relevant to today. The Museum will also help to preserve the historic site on which the 1969 Woodstock festival took place.
