         SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – A full slate of music festivals, car shows, art shows, wine and food festivals, and special events to satisfy diverse tastes and interests await San Luis Obispo County visitors this summer.  Following are just some of the events that would make a nice addition to anyone’s vacation itinerary.

June 8, 2008 – FIFTH ANNUAL PINOT & PAELLA COOK-OFF, TEMPLETON.  The Pinot and Paella Cook-Off features 16 great chefs and 12 Paso Robles Pinot Noir producers.  San Luis Obispo County’s best chefs will compete with unique Paella recipes, paired with wine from more than a dozen Paso Robles Pinot Noir producers from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Community Park in Templeton.  The Cook-off will showcase the Spanish beat, paella, live music and dance.  A live auction will feature large format collectors bottles filled with a one-of-a-kind Paso Pinot blend.  Also featured will be Latin dance music and a Salsa dance exposition.  (805) 239-2565.


June 14, 2008 – 3RD ANNUAL OUTDOOR QUILT SHOW, TEMPLETON.  Hundreds of colorful quilts from around the country will be on display in front of downtown businesses along historic Main Street.  Quilt vendors in Templeton Community Center and American Legion Hall.  Admission is FREE.  (805) 550-4488.


June 20-21, 2008 – ATASCADERO WINE FESTIVAL & GOLF TOURNAMENT.  The 13th annual festival includes a golf tournament at Chalk Mountain Golf Course, winemakers’ dinner, wine tasting in Atascadero Lake Park, fine arts festival, live music by the Mighty Croon Dogs, auction, and FREE admission to Charles Paddock Zoo.  Admission: $30 in advance/$35 at the door. June 20-22, 2008 – THE PISMO BEACH CLASSIC.  More than 800 of the ‘coolest’ cars around will be on display in downtown Pismo Beach and the pier for what is considered one of the largest classic car and street rod shows on the West Coast.  Highlights of The Pismo Beach Classic include Hot Rod Bar & Grill, Friday Night Cruise, Sock Hop, wine tasting, food, and entertainment.  Admission is FREE.  Contact:  The Pismo Beach Classic, (866) 450-7469.  


July 4, 2008 – SAND SCULPTURE CONTEST & FIREWORKS, CAYUCOS.  The classic beach community celebrates the 4th of July with a sand sculpture contest, parade through downtown, barbecue, bingo, and, or course, fireworks at dusk.  Admission is FREE.  (805) 995-1200.
