US Arrivals up in February

U.S. arrivals to Australia for February 2008 are up 14% on the same month in 2007 despite the current downturn in the U.S. economy. Aviation developments, including larger aircraft and increases in services, are expected to spur further growth from the market later this year.

V  Australia Arrives

V Australia Arrives

Australia’s newest International Airline, V Australia, was officially launched to the industry on March 31 with daily direct Sydney-Los Angeles flights as its inaugural trans-Pacific route and the promise of a premium product offering when it takes to the skies from 15 December 2008. V Australia marks the first airline to take advantage of the new ‘open skies’ agreement between the USA and Australia.

V Australia is expected to deliver an additional 50,000 visitors a year to Australia - over the two years 2008 and 2009 Tourism Australia expects an additional increase of 23 percent, with 15 percent of that growth delivered by
V Australia.

 

New Ads Show Australia Is Better Value  

A new series of ads developed by Tourism Australia for the Los Angeles Times make cheeky cost comparisons between Australia and Europe. One of the executions depicts a glass of wine, representing Europe, compared to a bottle of wine representing Australia. The ads are designed to show that with the same flying time as many European destinations and a comparatively stronger U.S. dollar, Australia offers a better value alternative for a week long vacation.

National Geographic Kids Explorer Challenge Goes To Australia

Australia has been chosen as the destination for the 2008 National Geographic Kids Hands-On Explorer Challenge. Budding environmentalists aged between 9–14 were given the opportunity to write an essay and win one of 15 places on the 10 day expedition team to learn about Australian wildlife, culture and conservation.  One parent joins each winner on the expedition which will take place on during July in Tasmania and Queensland. Those not lucky enough to win a spot though can book their own family vacation following in the footsteps of these young explorers with Springboard Vacations.
