10-25-2007

WARREN COUNTY, NY (10/24/2007; )-- While most people think of the Lake George Area in New York’s Adirondacks as mainly a place for summer fun and frolic, the local tourism department encourages travelers to think of the area as a perfect destination for countless recreational options during the winter wonderland months.

Warren County Tourism has unveiled a long list of winter activity offerings, including over 120 frozen lakes and ponds for ice fishing, hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails, snow tubing parks, ski resorts, and millions of acres of magnificent scenery. In addition, warm inns, B&B’s, lodges, cabins and hotels present the perfect places to snuggle-up after a day in nature’s paradise.

“Winter is one of our most exciting seasons in the Lake George Area,” said Kate Johnson, director of Warren County Tourism. “Visitors have ample options to keep them busy. Between skiing and snowboarding down our top-notch mountains, ice fishing in the lakes, or getting cozy in a cabin by the fireplace and watching the snow fall, Warren County has something for everyone during the winter months.”

The Lake George Area will kick off the season with several holiday festivals in December. A Holiday Weekend in Bolton Landing will be held on Dec. 1-2 and is free to the public. Christmas in the Adirondacks craft festival will be held Dec. 7-9 at the Adirondack Sports Complex.
