Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, Ne-Yo and T-Pain Among Artists Performing in Paradise this Summer
TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS, BWI (May 2008) – The Tourist Board of the Turks & Caicos Islands, a bourgeoning luxury destination in the Caribbean, today announced a sparkling assembly of music and comedy’s biggest stars scheduled to perform at its fifth annual Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival. Taking place July 28 – Aug. 4, 2008, on the exclusive island of Providenciales, thousands will enjoy stellar performances by music legends Lionel Richie and Anita Baker, along with some of today’s hottest R&B artists including Ne-Yo and T-Pain.
“With such a notable line-up of artists, we are confident that travelers to Turks & Caicos for this year’s Music and Cultural Festival will be wowed by the talent and contagious energy,” said Hon. Wayne Garland, executive chairman of the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board.
The Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival’s superstar line-up includes Lionel Richie, Academy Award and GRAMMY award-winner; eight-time GRAMMY award-winning soul singer, Anita Baker; T-Pain, Ne-Yo and LL Cool J, all GRAMMY award-winning rappers; JT Taylor, former lead singer for Kool & The Gang; Russell Thompkins & The New Stylistics, famed Philadelphia soul group; and Lou Gramm, vocalist from the rock band Foreigner; and local Turks & Caicos artists.

Talented acts will continue to shine during Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival’s Night of Comedy featuring Bruce Bruce, former host of BET’s “Comic View” and “Coming to the Stage;” Best Jamaican Comedian and writer, producer and star of Laugh Jamaica, Tony “Paleface” Hendricks; and Rickey Smiley, also a former host of BET’s “Comic View” and “The Way We Do It.”
In addition to music and comedy, the 2008 Miss Turks & Caicos Pageant, which promises to be equally enjoyable, will send its winner to represent Turks & Caicos at the Miss Universe Competition.
Now in its fifth year, the annual Music and Cultural Festival is seen as the largest and most popular entertainment event of the year in Turks and Caicos with more than 10,000 expected attendees. Produced by TurnKey Productions for the second year in a row, the event includes four nights of live music and concerts, a boat regatta and cultural happenings such as TuCa Dancers, a Conch Blowing Competition, Native Sloop Boat Race and Local Crafts.
Previous Festivals have seen an equally impressive assembly of luminary artists including Alicia Keys, John Legend, Kenny Rogers, Michael Bolton, T.I., Shaggy, Ludacris, Chaka Khan, and Boyz II Men, among others.
