Caribbean Travel & Life Reveals 15 Resorts With Rooms Right on the Reef

05-24-2008

Winter Park, Fla.Caribbean Travel & Life, the only national travel magazine focusing solely on the region, has released its June/July issue. This issue hits newsstands May 27 and features active pursuits -- 15 resorts that are perfect for snorkel adventures, and 18 sporty resorts for golf, tennis, sailing and more.

“Let’s just stipulate that I’m no Olympic kayaker. Furthermore, I am at best a minimally proficient scuba diver. Despite my blazing incompetence at these activities, every time I go to the Caribbean I cram as many outdoorsy sports as possible into my itinerary, just to get some nature kicks,” says Editor-in-Chief Dave Herndon. “Therein lies the theme of this action-packed issue; our guarantee is that amateurs and experts alike are sure to find plenty of love and delight in all the destinations described.”

They’re every snorkeler’s dream come true: Here are some of the 15 welcoming Caribbean havens where the water’s warm, clear, teeming with kaleidoscopic sea life – and just steps outside your door. At St. Thomas’ Secret Harbour Hotel the waters are well suited for beginners, but seasoned snorkelers can paddle to a maze of volcanic rocks to frolic with turtles, rays and octopuses. Ranguana, a private island 18 miles off Placencia in southern Belize, lies just inside the world’s second-longest barrier reef. The calm water and close reef make the Coral Reef Club in Barbados an ideal spot for night snorkeling.

Caribbean Travel & Life’s June/July issue also reveals the region’s best resorts for immersing yourself in your favorite sport, no matter what that sport is – golf, fishing, tennis or surfing, in the feature “Get Your Game On!” Also for the active-minded traveler, a jackpot of untrammeled coves, primeval jungle and Maya legacy await in the feature “Utterly Unexpected Honduras.” Beyond its well-traveled Bay Islands, an enticing landscape awaits the adventure-seeking traveler.
