The Egg Turns 50 Arne Jacobsen's futuristic Egg chair just might be the most recognizable chair on the planet, featured in everything from television commercials to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Egg (still manufactured by the Danish firm of Fritz Hansen), making this the perfect time to celebrate the Egg at the place where it was "born" - the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in the heart of Copenhagen. Jacobsen designed the hotel from top to bottom, including all of its furnishings, and today, the hotel celebrates his legacy - from the Egg chairs in the lobby to the experience of an overnight stay in the hotel's quintessentially modernist Room 606, furnished completely with Jacobsen pieces just as he envisioned 50 years ago.

Copenhagen Jazz Marks 30 From July 4 to 13, Denmark's capital becomes Europe's jazz capital during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Now in its 30th season, the festival fills the air with jazz in all its forms, from bebop to fusion, swing and free jazz, at venues large and small throughout the city.
