Voyages' Wrotham Park Lodge Offers Cattle Mustering Adventure in Australia's Outback

05-29-2008

NEW YORK – May 28, 2008 - Have you ever dreamed of being a jackeroo or jillaroo in the Australian Outback? Well, now’s your chance. Saddle up and strap yourself in for the ride of a lifetime at Wrotham Park Lodge’s new live cattle mustering adventure.

Located in a spectacular setting, 185 miles west of Cairns in Queensland, Wrotham Park Lodge encompasses the spirit of the Australian outback combined with a unique, luxury resort experience.

Encompassing almost 1.5 million acres of land with around 70,000 head of cattle, mustering will take place on Wrotham Park Station until mid-September this year. Departing in the morning, guests will be taken to the center of the mustering action on the station. Joining the stockmen and women on horseback guests will share the excitement of rounding up the herds, sometimes in unison with a helicopter.

This new experience is tailored to each guest and the level of involvement they’d like to have in a real life muster. Those looking for an extra adrenalin rush can also choose to take flight in a helicopter to follow the muster by air. If you’d rather watch, then guests can also witness all the excitement and action around the stock yards with half-day cattle station tours, horse rides, 4WD adventures and exhilarating helicopter scenic tours.

Guests can also join Wrotham Park Lodge's chefs for a demonstration of cooking traditional country recipes with only the freshest of ingredients, much like the region's ancestors who cooked vegetables plucked directly from the veggie patch, and fresh cuts of meat straight from the cattle station. Guests can learn how to make the old Aussie favorites and master cooking techniques over hot coals.

Anna Guillan, Voyages Hotels & Resorts Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing, said: “Mustering season is an exciting time to visit Wrotham Park Lodge. Guests get a real feel for cattle station life and the rugged beauty of the Australian Outback, and together with luxury accommodation and sumptuous country cuisine and premium beverages, guests can witness it all in style and comfort.”

Staying in superbly appointed guest Quarters, a two-night stay at Wrotham Park Lodge costs AUD$1440 per person (about US$1377) – the perfect escape for travelers looking to experience a luxury taste of Outback life. The price includes accommodation, all meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cattle mustering (in season), a half-day cattle station tour and many activities, including horse riding.
