Mild & Wild: The Complete Guide

Your List for Mild to Wild River Rafting Trips

When it comes to planning a rafting trip, the river selection and river ratings are probably the two most important factors. The first thing you want to know is: "What is the river rated?"

Below is a complete guide on where to find the mild/medium trips (typically class I - III), and where to find the intense, heart-pounding trips for those not afraid to get wet (class IV - V). Remember that the classifications are still very general, and classes will still vary depending on the specific river, water levels and time of year. Check with your outfitter to get more details.

Mild to Moderate (Class I - III)
paddle boat

Any rapids and river designated as Class I - III can be considered mild or medium grade rapids.

These trips are suitable for all ages (usually about 5 years old and up). Sometimes these trips go through a very scenic location, or just simply offer a calm, relaxing experience with some excitement along the way.
