Flying Easier By Judi Janofsky and Rich Steck Airline cutbacks, reduced services onboard and even more security regulations have made travel less fun and more exhausting. Here are some tips that may help make flying less stressful and a whole lot easier on your body, mind and soul. Booking Airline Flights. Check out flights and costs at a travel website like travelocity.com or expedia.com. Find the cheapest flight, then go to that airline's site and see what that same flight costs. Often it's cheaper. Even if it's a few dollars more, we book it through the airline because it's easier to make a change if necessary. Airport Maps. Before you leave home, see if your arriving or connecting airport has a terminal map available online. Print a copy and take it with you to make it easier when changing planes or to help find baggage claims, transportation, car rentals and restaurants. Most in-flight magazines have major terminal maps as well. Take a Pillow. Most airlines have removed pillows from domestic flights. If you've got a bad back or enjoy a nap on the plane, take a small pillow with you in your carryon. Wedge that pillow in the lumbar area for a more comfortable flight or just put it behind your head, lean back and take a snooze. Taking Laptops. Don't put your laptop on the security check conveyer belt until you're waved through the metal detector. There have been some reports where a person will purposely put a metal object in their pocket to hold up the line while your computer goes through and is picked up by an accomplice waiting on the other side. ...More Recent Articles |
