FAIRMONT COPLEY PLAZA PARTNERS WITH THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
10-27-2007
Boston, Massachusetts, October 25, 2007 - For guests interested in exploring the decorative arts of the Napoleonic Empire, the Fairmont Copley Plaza has partnered with the Museum of Fine Arts on a package to celebrate the museum's landmark exhibit, Symbols of Power: Napoleon and the Art of the Empire Style.
Named for the Napoleonic Empire at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Empire style is one of the grandest and most opulent in the history of decorative arts. This exhibit examines how Napoleon appropriated emblems of power from antiquity, especially Egypt and Rome, and linked his reign with those of the great civilizations of the past. Designs inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity were enlivened with bold colors, costly and elaborately worked materials, a massive scale, and ornate decoration that included animal and fantastical figures, such as lions and griffons, and symbolic references to Napoleon's reign. With a selection of approximately 190 objects ranging from furniture to jewelry to paintings, this is the first comprehensive survey of Empire style decorative arts.
The Fairmont Copley Plaza invites guests to experience the Empire style with its Napoleon Package. The package includes overnight accommodations at the hotel and two VIP tickets to Symbols of Power: Napoleon and the Art of the Empire Style. These tickets provide un-timed access to the exhibit so hotel guests may attend the show at their leisure. This package is available from October 21, 2007 to January 27, 2008, and rates start at $299.
This package is based upon availability and does not include tax or gratuity. Guests may upgrade to Fairmont Gold, the hotel's exclusive club level, for an additional $100 per night, or upgrade to the Museum of Fine Arts Suite, a mini-museum within the hotel, for an additional $300 per night.
