The Inside Scoop On Great Ice Cream

By Rich Steck & Judi Janofsky

Fried chicken may be "finger lickin' good" but the best lick of all is a cold scoop of ice cream in a waffle cone on a hot summer afternoon (or morning or night).

We just returned from hosting two Provence Escapes tours in France where every small village (and large town, too, for that matter) has big displays filled with all kinds of fanciful flavored ice cream. Every time I saw someone walking down a cobblestone street with a cone in hand, I reacted like Pavlov's dog salivating for a treat. "Our Tauck Directors have a real in-depth, local knowledge of the destinations where we travel," explained Tauck CEO Dan Mahar. "Because they take our guests off-the-beaten-path to discover the hidden gems in each country we visit, it's only natural that they'd know where to find the best ice cream."
