Don't Abandon Felix or Fido

With Labor Day fast approaching, throngs of vacation-bound pet owners will opt for a pet sitter rather than a kennel boarding facility.Pet sitting has some nice benefits, primarily the avoidance of serious psychological and physical health concerns associated with kennel boarding. Things like emotional distress, kennel cough, Parvo disease and the potentially deadly canine influenza virus, with outbreaks having already been reported just last month in several New Jersey.

2. Diligently check all of a company's references - they should voluntarily provide at least three.

3. Ensure the company is fully bonded and insured.

4. Confirm that your sitter has undergone a criminal background check and has received proper training.
