BOLONGO BAY BEACH RESORT, ST. THOMAS, INTRODUCES ‘HOLIDAY SHOPPING SPECIAL’ FEATURING SAVINGS OF 30%

10-22-2008

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (Oct. 20, 2008) -- Don’t stress over holiday shopping!  Instead, jet to Bolongo Bay Beach Resort (http://www.bolongobay.com) in St. Thomas and take advantage of the resort’s recently launched Holiday Shopping Special featuring a savings of 30% off the resort’s European Plan (EP).

The Holiday Shopping Special is available on all EP bookings made for travel Dec. 1 – Dec. 15, 2008.  The Holiday Shopping Special must be booked directly through the resort’s on-island reservations department at 1-800-524-4746 or via e-mail: reservations@bolongobay.com.  The promotion cannot be combined with any other offer or existing reservations.

Bolongo’s EP vacation includes accommodations in an ocean view or beach front room; a “discover scuba diving” in-pool lesson; and complimentary use of non-motorized watersports (snorkel gear, paddle boats, sunfish sailboats, windsurfing equipment, kayaks and much more).

Nightly rates (reflecting the 30% discount) start at $167 per room, based on double occupancy, plus 15% tax and service charges and $5 per day energy surcharge.

Guests can use the 30% they saved on hotel reservations towards duty-free holiday shopping at the Havensight Mall and downtown Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas’ capital.  The duty-free allowance in the U.S. Virgin Islands is $1,600 per person.  Family members traveling together can make a joint declaration that increases the amount of their allowance.  Gifts valued $100 or less can be mailed (no more than one package per day) and do not need to be declared in the exemption.  US visitors are allowed to return with six bottles of liquor if one of the bottles was produced locally.  Duty of 6% is charged for purchases totaling more than $1,600.

No Passport Required

Travelers coming to the U.S. Virgin Islands do not have to worry about having a passport.  As a territory of the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix) does not require American citizens to possess a passport to enter the destination or return to the U.S. mainland.  Therefore guests can make their reservations at Bolongo without worrying about a passport.

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort

Bolongo features 65 beach front rooms curved around crescent-shaped, palm-lined Bolongo Bay.  Accommodations are in the midst of a makeover with new color schemes and soft goods (bedding and linens).  Rooms offer a private balcony as well as many of the comforts of home including a mini-refrigerator, coffeemaker, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, color cable television, hair dryer, radio alarm clock, iron and ironing board, safe and telephone.

Making it convenient for travelers to access e-mail and stay in-touch with the office, friends and family while on vacation, Bolongo offers WIFI access hotspots around its pool and lounge areas -- all which can be accessed via a guest’s wireless laptop.  For those who don’t want to travel with their personal computer, guests can purchase phone cards in Bolongo’s gift shop to be used in conjunction with the resort’s Internet kiosk located in the lounge.
