KentuckyShow!, a multi-sensory experience that’s all about Kentucky, opens in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. The sights and sounds of Kentucky — from the thundering hooves of thoroughbreds to bourbon aging in oak barrels — are featured in an energetic new 30-minute multi-media production, KentuckyShow!, now on view in downtown Louisville.

KentuckyShow! highlights the state’s  culture, beauty, commerce, history and people, and is screened eight times a day in a 100-seat theater the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $7 and $6 for seniors and students.

The show, narrated by Bluegrass native Ashley Judd  and shot in high definition video and 35mm film, was created by nationally-acclaimed video artist Donna Lawrence, whose works also include multi-media projects for the Clinton Presidential Library, the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and the Gettysburg Visitors Center.

Lawrence shot in 187 locations across Kentucky over a two-year period. Among KentuckyShow!’s highlights are colorful scenes from the Kentucky Derby, the natural beauty of Bluegrass thoroughbred farms and, and the vibrant ballet, orchestra and arts of the state’s largest city, Louisville.

The show’s diverse soundtrack features the music of a Baptist choir, country singer Loretta Lynn, The Louisville Orchestra, Rosemary Clooney, bluegrass bands and the Louisville rock band, My Morning Jacket.
