THE RITZ-CARLTON, NEW ORLEANS- SELECTED AS ONE OF THE WORLD'S TOP 100 LUXURY HOTELS

11-06-2007

NEW ORLEANS, November 5, 2007- - The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans is featured in the current issue of the Robb Report in a section entitled "Robb Report's 100 Luxury Hotels."  A separate annual issue, Robb Report Luxury Hotels, will hit newsstands this week and it will provide detailed information on each of the 100 winners.

The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans is the only hotel in the State of Louisiana to appear on the Luxury Hotels list and one of only three hotels to be selected out of sixty-seven (67) Ritz-Carlton properties worldwide.  The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans (opened December 4, 2006), The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow (opened July 1, 2007) and The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo (opened March 29, 2007) are the three properties that made this second annual list.

According to the November 2007 Robb Report, "The abundance of rankings and ratings systems available to travelers can serve more to confuse than to inform.  Stars, diamonds, numerals, and even crowns purport to denote comparative quality, but they frequently fall short of answering the most fundamental question:  Which hotel is the best in its given location?  On newsstands this November, the second annual edition of Robb Report Luxury Hotels addresses this issue head-on, offering a comprehensive guide to the premier accommodations in 100 cities worldwide.  As chosen by the editors and writers of Robb Report, the properties showcased in Luxury Hotels rank unequivocally as the ultimate urban retreats."

The article states that "Just beyond the walls of The Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans, Bourbon Street, the St. Louis Cathedral, and the many other attractions of the French Quarter beckon.  But you need not leave the Ritz's century-old, 14-story structure on Canal Street to experience the soul of the city: its people.  Several nights each week, Marva Wright, also known as the Blues Queen of New Orleans, sings in the hotel's On Trois lounge; trumpeter Jeremy Davenport performs jazz standards at Mélange restaurant; and mixologist Chris McMillian concocts classic cocktails and delivers spirited stories in the Library Lounge.  While areas of New Orleans are still struggling to rebuild, the Ritz is back and better than ever.  After a 15-month closure and a $105 million renovation, the Ritz reopened late last year."

The Robb Report covers the luxury market and content highlights exotic automobiles, boats, aircrafts, upscale travel, technology, watches, fashion, sports, investments, business, real estate and other lifestyle topics geared toward the affluent market.  It aims to be the ultimate authority on the lifestyle that encapsulates all the elements of luxurious living and to provide a detailed guide to the products, events, issues and passions that capture the attention of today's affluent consumer.

The hotel's General Manager Myra deGersdorff, a native New Orleanian, was thrilled with the news of the award.   "Being selected by the Robb Report as one of the top luxury hotels in the world will provide exposure for our city, not just for the hotel.  It will keep New Orleans top-of-mind for affluent travelers and it is yet another acknowledgement of the tireless efforts of the six hundred ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton Hotels of New Orleans."

The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans is also featured in the November 2007 issue of Travel + Leisure as part of their ten-page story, "New Orleans, Why Go Now."  Since reopening, the hotel has also garnered the following accolades:
*         Conde Nast Traveller UK:  Hot List- 65 Best Hotels in the World
*         Vogue Entertaining & Travel AU: 19 Cool Hotels in the World
*         Travel + Leisure Magazine: 500 World's Best Hotels
