Time For A New Deal?

So we have a new president, one who promised "change" and promised to take our country in a new direction.

Inspired by that spirit of change, it was a happy coincidence when we came across news from the ski slopes up in Vermont, where at least one resort is taking a refreshing approach to changing the way their guests enjoy a winter's vacation on skis or snowboards.

New Dealer Franklin D. Roosevelt, when faced with extraordinary financial crisis, said, "Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." Although he most certainly was not talking about skiing and snowboarding, his words ring true for snowsports enthusiasts who recognize the pleasure that comes from having learned how to ski or snowboard.

And that's where Okemo Mountain Resort promises "change" as they invite guests to experience the on-snow version of the 32nd president's definition of happiness with some new deals plus some tried-and-true offers designed to fit every ski trip budget.

Learn to Ski or Snowboard FREE!
First-time or beginner skiers and snowboarders visiting Okemo Mountain Resort early in the season can take part in a complimentary learn-to-ski or learn-to-snowboard program at no cost. Their offer is designed to generate excitement for snow sports and to encourage a try-out at the start of the winter season. Okemo's beginner package includes a free combination lower-mountain lift ticket, a free level 1 or 2 beginner group lesson at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Not only do you get free lessons, but also they'll throw in free special introductory-level rental equipment (skis, boots, poles, or boots and snowboard). The "Learn to Ski or Snowboard for FREE" deal is available for ages 7 and up, every day at no charge, Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 19, 2008.

Hanging on at 30 mph!
