Taj unveils new royal spa experience at Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur

UDAIPUR, INDIA (January 12, 2009) - Taj Lake Palace recently launched the Jiva Spa Boat, which glides along the tranquil waters of Lake Pichola. This unique spa experience recreates the royal traditions of the House of Mewar and the rejuvenating treatments of the Jiva Spa.

Inspired by the style of the old palaces in Udaipur, the Jiva Spa Boat fuses historical and regal references with contemporary design, featuring a spacious, air conditioned double spa suite, a relaxation lounge, steam bath and shower. The suite opens out onto a large sky deck, which has a soak bath, a lounging bed and dining area with views of the Aravallis, the oldest fold mountains in the world.

The Jiva Spa menu has been designed to nurture the individual's Jiva, or 'Life Force'. Guests can choose personalized spa experiences to suit their mood and needs. All products used at Jiva Spas are natural and uniquely developed from Indian herbs, essential oils and special ingredients.

Relaxing Spa Experience (2 hours)
Choose one of four Indian aromatherapy experiences:
Orja Dayaka - an energizing massage that creates a balancing energy to lift your spirits and revive inner vitality
Vishram - a relaxing massage with special oil blends that release tension
Pavithri - a special lymphatic drainage technique with therapeutic oils that helps eliminate toxins and refine the system
Sammardana - a customized Indian deep tissue massage that enhances mobility of joints and induces a sense of relaxation


Royal Spa Sojourn (Duration 3 hours)
Mewar Khas, a specialty of the Mewar region, is a luxurious pre-bathing ritual traditionally practiced by royalty in preparation for their wedding day. A gentle scrub of fresh natural ingredients is followed by a relaxing massage using signature Jiva oils.

Energizing Spa Escape (3 hours)
A signature Jiva treatment, the Pehlwan Malish is a powerful massage traditionally enjoyed by Indian warriors. The pungent mustard oil is excellent for the skin.

Romantic Spa Escapade (3 1/2 hours or 4 hours with a meal)
The invigorating Jivaniya treatment relieves muscular tension and improves blood circulation. Jivaniya includes an exfoliating herbal scrub, a heat-stimulating wrap of exotic spices and herbs, followed by a rejuvenating massage.

Romantic Spa Indulgence (4 1/2 hours / 5 hours with a meal)
Soma, Nectar of the Gods, is an indulgent couple spa experience with a relaxing Indian aromatherapy massage, in a romantic candle-lit ambience, using pure, evocative oils. Guests relax in a soak tub rose petal bath, enjoying champagne.

After the spa treatment, guests can recline on the private deck. Guests are offered a fragrant floral blessing upon disembarking.
