01-13-2009

Ondeck Sailing offers new seven-day Caribbean island tour

Montserrat, West Indies – January 13, 2009 – In addition to seeing Montserrat’s scenic coastline and breathtaking views of the Soufrière Hills Volcano, Ondeck Sailing will be offering travelers a new aquatic adventure on the open seas. Beginning January 25, 2009, the Antigua based tour operator will provide both experienced and novice sailors the chance to experience some of the region’s more unique nations.

The cruise is designed to offer adventure enthusiasts an opportunity to sail to destinations with extraordinary sites and activities indigenous to each island. The islands on the route were chosen specifically for their unique outdoor excursions. For seven days, passengers will experience everything from trekking in the rainforest with experienced guides to horseback riding, diving and snorkeling in pristine waters.  Adventure enthusiasts will depart St. Maarten on a journey to St. Kitts and Nevis, Montserrat, Barbuda, Saba and Anguilla before returning to St. Maarten.

On day two, visiting the island of Montserrat will provide passengers with the opportunity to view the Soufrière Hills Volcano at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (www.mvo.ms), go horseback riding with Zekie’s Horseback Riding Tours, the island’s only riding facility and hike through the island’s lush tropical rainforest, where the wondrous sights and sounds of the island’s 33 species of birds and other local wildlife are only a few steps away.

Additionally, the destination’s two underwater tour operators Scuba Montserrat (www.divedestinationmontserrat.com) and Green Monkey Dive Shop (www.divemontserrat.com), will help sea adventurers explore and discover Montserrat’s 13 miles of coastline. An area that is home to a variety of marine life including everything from spiny lobsters, stony ledges and copper sweepers to green turtles, colorful reef fish, dolphins and nurse sharks.

The cost of the roundtrip tour is $1150 USD per person and includes accommodations on each island, daily breakfast, lunch or dinner and adventure tours. To book or for more information visit, http://www.ondeckoceanracing.com/antigua/hidden-caribbean.htm or call 268.562.6696.

Montserrat, a lush green and mountainous island of approximately 39 square miles, lies in the Eastern Caribbean chain of islands. Known fondly as the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean, this pear shaped island is a traveler’s paradise for nature lovers, divers, adventurers, family and villa vacationers, and honeymooners.  This British overseas territory boasts the spectacular Soufrière Hills Volcano, a modern day Pompeii in the form of its buried former capital city Plymouth, alongside lush, green mountains, world class nature trails, deserted dark sand beaches, untouched reefs and a quiet friendly charm reminiscent of the way the Caribbean used to be. For more information on Montserrat and its breathtaking scenery and unspoiled, unpolluted coral and volcanic vistas, visit www.visitmontserrat.com.
